Alrighty, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything on my blog. I’ve decided that this is going to be the place where I rant about the things that drive me nuts.

First of all, I’m going to let you know right of, my grammar will probably be incorrect in all of the blogs. English wasn’t one of my favorite subjects. So, get over the fact that I might say something incorrectly.

Second, if I offend you it’ s not on purpose. This is my blog though and I’ll speak my mind. One thing that I get most vocal about is politics. I’m sick and tired of having to be careful and “offending” someone. So, if you are easily offended get over it.

I am a Conservative woman. I am a Christian, I love my God, my family and my Country. I hope none of my post come across as anything that would be offensive , but I believe I have a right as a Christan and as an American to speak my mind. I support SMALL government, lower taxes and the Constitution of the United States. I believe our current President and his minions are trying to do their best to destroy this great country. I wish NO harm to ever come to anyone. I just wish for them to be voted out of office, so they retire from politics.

I’m proud to say I’m a Reagan conservative. I turned 18 just before Reagan was up for re-election in 1984. So, in my first Presidential election I voted for him. When it comes to Presidential & Gubernatorial elections I’ve always voted Republican. I’ve pretty much voted Republican in all other political races as well, BUT I don’t consider myself a Republican I am a Conservative.

It pained me greatly to vote for John McCain in the 2008 election, but he was BY FAR the lesser of two evils. Yes, I said evil. I didn’t vote for him because he was white or because it would be ‘making history’. It’s shameful that a lot of people voted for a man just to make history and because of the color of his skin. It could have been a black conservative running and I would have supported him 100%. I vote for a person based on his beliefs, if they match up to my beliefs then that’s who I’ll support. To bad we didn’t have someone in his spot that could have possibly beat this current guy in office. The only good thing about McCain’s campaign was when he ask Sarah Palin to be his running mate.
A guy that I happen to really like JC Watts. Too bad he got out of politics. Some up and coming black conservatives that I admire and agree with is Stephen Broden & Herman Cain.

I personally believe that you should be given the test for US citizenship in order to be able to vote. If you fail the test you don’t get to vote!!!!

Here’s where I may make some of you really mad. I LIKE Sarah Palin. I think she is strong, has guts, is a great lady. More on her in another post.

Now, in the last Gubernatorial election in Alabama (2010) it pained me to vote for Robert Bentley. One of the things he ran on was integrity. I don’t think he has any. If he did he would have spoken up and told the AEA to butt out of the election. I think the AEA is evil. I am anti union. I’ve been anti union my entire life. The AEA railroaded the election to keep a good man, Bradley Byrne from being the Republican Gubernatorial candidate. They formed not one but TWO different ‘groups’ to run ads telling lies about Mr. Byrne. Anyone with any sense could have figured it out. All you had to do was a little searching on Google and you could find the information. I tried to warn my family and friends that Hubbart & the AEA was behind this. Bentley didn’t have to do any negative campaigning they did it for him. The media waited until AFTER the election to report that Hubbert & the AEA were behind the ads. I think that is totally unacceptable. Again, I shouldn’t have to say this, but you know how sensitive some people are. I wish NO harm to anyone. I just wish Hubbert would retire and the AEA would go away. The Dept of Education is also a joke. More on this in another post….

On a side note just look at the current events of the past week, of what’s going on in Wisconsin and then today in Indiana. The Democrats there are a bunch of cowards. I hope Governor Walker of Wisconsin & the Republican’s there stick to their guns. Woops, can I say guns?????? I didn’t mean for them to get a gun and go shot someone. Anyone that thinks that is a moron. Stick to your guns simply means stick to what you believe in. Unions….are not a good thing, I believe they have played a huge part in destroying the American Dream.

Here are some other reasons to like or dislike me. I like Rush Limbaugh. I’ve been listening to him since the early 90′s. Oh, I’ve attended Tea Parties too, I happen to like Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck & Sean Hannity. I’ve been listening to Hannity since he started out here in Huntsville, AL before he was the famous guy that he is today.

On to more local stuff going on here in Huntsville. We have a City School board and superintendent that have had their heads in the sand for quite sometime. Apparently we (the school system) is over 19 million dollars in the hole. They didn’t know that??? Those poor people, imagine being elected (in the boards case) and selected by the board ( in the Superintendent’s case) your job was to make sure the HSV City School system was run in such a way that the STUDENTS came first. The money was managed correctly and that they actually did the things that was in their job descriptions. WOW! Now, we’ve “fired” our Superintendent, who by the way makes $196,000 a year. The board makes approximately $23,000 a year. Even though the Ms. Moore will be ‘stepping down’ in June will will continue to pay her. Why you ask? To avoid a lawsuit. I did support some of our board members, but after finding out about the money debacle I think they all should step down.

The solution SHOULD be simple. Some schools need to close, but guess what we can’t. The DOJ says we have “persistent achievement gaps between black and white students at various schools throughout the district.” “Furthermore, according to the aforementioned media reports, the District is preparing to close and consolidated schools, reconfigure attendance zone lines, significantly reduce staff numbers, and explore other means of eliminating the existing deficit– actions that implicate the District’s desegregation obligations.” Let me stop right here and make it PERFECTLY CLEAR, I am NOT a racist. I am a parent concerned about my child’s education and the school system that he is attending. We’ve had this whole issue over South HSV & North HSV. The haves & the have nots. The racists & the non racists. The PARENTS need to get up off their behinds and get involved. We’ve had a black superintendent for the last 10 years, we had a black gentleman as the President of the school board for several years. There is also currently a black lady on the board, along with two white men & two white women. I wouldn’t care if the superintendent and the entire board were ALL black.

My point is they talk about how race relations are still just terrible. (I’m not trying to make lite of the matter.) But what has she Ms. Moore, Mr. Dawson & Ms. McCalley done to try and improve relations? Nothing!

Side note, Obama was suppose to improve relations to, they are worse.

Ms. Moore or someone in her office called the churches in North Huntsville and the NAACP and had them invade the board meetings so there was room for no one else to get in the room. The same people stand up and complain every meeting. Stop the complaining, get off your duff and help the kids!!!!

If the parents support their kids, encourage them, discipline them (gasp), and make them do their homework, attend school,etc…..guess what, the kids grades would in a lot of cases would improve. So would the discipline problems in school. If the kids are held accountable at home and disciplined the schools would improve. I understand there would be extenuating circumstances where some kids would continue to not do well, but gosh darn it you can’t tell me it wouldn’t improve. Close some of the dad-gum schools that are below occupancy. I’m not trying to single out any school, but here’s an example: Butler High School at 30% occupancy needs ~ $16 million in repairs. Move the kids to another school and close Butler. I’d say the same thing if it were a predominately white school in S. HSV. Come on, use some common sense.

One last thing for this post, because I may have already lost a lot of you with this really long post. I completely disagree with busing kids out of Grissom in order to bus kids into Grissom to make the numbers ‘right’. My son will be a freshman at Grissom this coming fall. If they tell me they are going to bus him somewhere else, I’ll pull him out of the HSV City School system and either home school him or send him a private school. A lot of other parents that I know will do the exact same thing. Then guess what, HSV will not be closing some schools they’ll be closing a lot of schools and laying off teachers (that are in the AEA). They will then have to look for jobs in private schools, where the AEA doesn’t have it’s grubby paws.

We’re not rich, I’d have to go back to work full time to put him in private school. I have back problems, so working full time wouldn’t be easy. You know what, my son is worth it. He’s worth me INVESTING time in him, so he can grow up and be the man that our great founding Fathers and military have fought for us to have as Americans. Not White Americans, not African Americans, not Latino Americans, but AMERICANS!!!!

In ending, I’ve never been ashamed of this Great country. I’ve always been proud of America. Now, I have been & continue to be ashamed of our current President. I respect the Office, I just don’t think he does. I’m ashamed of our government. They need to learn to control spending, take care of our defense & our borders.

I’m tired of being called a racist, terrorist, hateful person because of my beliefs. So, look out I’m getting on my soap box and I’m not going to get off. It’s the First Amendment…it’s called Freedom of Speech.

’til next time,

Well since Christmas not a lot has changed with my back issues. I still have problems with my back. In July 2004, gosh I can’t believe it’s been that long ago, I ruptured a disc. I had a back surgery in November 2004 and another surgery in March 2005. I have other disc that are messed up, they just haven’t ruptured.

I don’t sleep anymore. I don’t know what’s going on there….. I guess old age. All of that started when the back issues started and the sleep issues have just gotten worse. There’s a lot more to my back stuff I just don’t feel like writing about it right now.

On to other things, I stay busy being a somewhat stay-at-home wife and mom. I work for a friend of ours in his veterinary office. I work about 9 hours a week as his office manager. As I mentioned in another post I am a Creative Memories consultant. I’ve been a CMC for about 9 years. I’m somewhat of a amateur (very amateur) photographer. I love taking pictures. I’ve taken pictures of some of my friends for their Christmas cards and such. I love just going to the Botanical Gardens or around town and snapping away.

I’m back helping out in Sunday school at our church in the baby class. Before I hurt my back I taught the 1-2 year olds for several years and really enjoyed it. I’ve missed it a lot. I can’t lift those kiddos anymore but I can hold babies. I’ve been the preschool coordinator for our VBS for I don’t even know how many years, maybe 8 or 9 years?? I really enjoy VBS. It’s so much fun and the most important thing is watching God work in those kids lives. The kids that come to Christ during VBS is what makes it worth it all.

I’ve been trying to get my scrapbooks up to date. It seems like that’s a never ending job with all of the pictures I take.

I have a reading problem though so it gets in the way of things some times. I LOVE to read. I’m so excited that I get to hear Karen Kingsbury speak this weekend at the Ewomen Conference in Birmingham (this is a Christian Ladies Conference). She spoke at the conference last year when I went. If you haven’t read her books it’s a must!! She’s awesome! I’m really looking forward to all of the speakers and singers. I’m a little bummed that Mark Schultz isn’t going to be there. He was there last year. I really enjoy hearing him sing. There are about 10-12 ladies from my church going this weekend. I’m really looking forward to the fellowship with them.

Hopefully this year I will not get a ticket going to the conference! Last year I was pulled over just as I was turning into the church parking. I wasn’t speeding or anything. I didn’t have a clue as to why I was beening pulled over. The lady riding with me was as puzzled as I was. As it turns out my car tag had expired 2 weeks before that. The dude gave me a ticket!! He was very rude!! She and I couldn’t get over how rude he was. My friends in the cars in front of us had no idea what was going on. Lisa called my cell. I told her that he thought I was drunk. ( I was kidding of course). She thought that I was telling the truth, b/c we’d changed lanes back and forth several times on our way to the church. They didn’t know until I got into the church the real reason for me getting pulled over. They couldn’t believe that I’d gotten a ticket either. Apparently there is a “grace period” and I’d missed it by one day. Beware of Vestiva Hills policemen, they’ll flat out give you a ticket. I can laugh about it now, but I wasn’t laughing then. Needless to say, I’ve bought our car tags for this year. I’ve got it in my Google calendar to come up every April 1st – Buy Car Tags!!

Allan has been really busy at work, that’s nothing new. He’s busy at church on a committee that he’s been serving on for quite a while. He also stays busy doing the sound at church. He really enjoys doing sound.

He started a podcast about 6 months ago. It’s called Two Chairs No Waiting. The podcast is about all things Mayberry. He’s done 31 episodes so far. He’s doing a great job and he’s really enjoying doing them. He’s done several Mayberry events already this year. He flew down to West Palm Beach a couple of months ago for a event. We were in Tuscaloosa a couple of weeks ago for a wonderful charity event called Eagles Wings. There are several more Mayberry events coming up this year. In July there’s the Squad Car Nationals in Graysville, AL. He’s got another event in NC and a event in August in Mississippi. There’s the 20th annual Mayberry Days in September in Mt. Airy, NC. Then in October the 4th annual Mayberry Cruise. The cruise will be out of Jacksonville, FL. It’s going to Key West and Nassau. There’s George’s birthday in December and that will just about wrap up the Mayberry stuff for the year.

Lastly, he’s still active in TKD (Tae Kwon Do). He’s a 2nd degree Black belt. He stays busy teaching kids TKD while continuing to work on his own mad skills.

First, I’d like to say thank you to my wonderful husband for setting up this blog for me.

I can’t promise that my post will be clever like my super son’s blog. It’s pretty much about whatever’s going on in Adam’s world. You can visit it at adamnewsome.com or entertaining post like Allan’s blog called Two Chairs No Waiting. It’s a internet show about the Andy Griffith show and all things Mayberry.

As Allan said in his post, I was trying to come up with something clever to say for my first post. Well, you’d probably be waiting for quite some time. After days of pondering, I’ve got nothing. So, hopefully I’ll find some great things to say soon. If I don’t post again before the new year, Happy 2009.

Wonder how long I’ll date my checks and other things 2008?
